The Drone Wars & the Threat of New Wars in the Middle East

Lunchtime talk with free pizza!

Thursday, January 24 from 12pm to 1pm at the African American Cultural Center Gallery, 207 Adams Hall at UIC.

Featuring Vince Emanuel, Iraq Veterans Against the War and Kait McIntyre, AntiWar Committee Chicago

Vince is a veteran of the US Marine Corps and spent eight months in his tour of duty in Iraq starting in August 2004.  He came to oppose that war as “An illegal, immoral, unjustified and unneeded occupation of a sovereign country.”  Returning home, he became active in the anti-war movement as part of the Iraq Veterans Against the War.  Vince will speak about his opposition to the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the threat of war against Syria and Iran, and why he also opposes the Drone Wars being waged against Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and now Mali.

Kait is a student activist with the Anti-War Committee (AWC) of Chicago.  She was an organizer of the student contingent at the massive march against the NATO Summit in May 2012.  Kait will speak on the AWC's campaign against Chicago based Boeing, the second largest weapon manufacturer in the U.S. She is active in the fight for money for jobs, health care, and education, not for war.
